Six steps to land your first container of Chinese oranges

The end-to-end B2B flow, in the order an importer actually executes it. Skip to step 6 if your team already runs an established Chinese-fruit programme.

1. Pick variety & season

Newhall (Nov–May), Lanelate (Mar–Jul), Valencia (May–Sep), Jelly (Oct–Feb), Cara Cara (Jan–Apr). Most B2B importers run Newhall + Lanelate as a rolling 9-month programme.

2. Confirm port pair & transit

Shanghai or Ningbo loading → your discharge port. Klang 14–18d · Tanjung Priok 16–20d · Chattogram 18–24d · Manila 12–16d · Jebel Ali 20–25d · Santos 35–42d.

3. Confirm HS code & duty

HS 0805.10 (oranges, fresh). 0% duty under RCEP (ASEAN + Japan/Korea/AU/NZ), China–Chile FTA and China–Peru FTA with a valid certificate of origin. Bangladesh, GCC, Brazil apply standard MFN.

4. Lock payment terms

30% T/T deposit + 70% against B/L copy is standard. L/C at sight available for Bangladesh, GCC, South America first orders or for buyers preferring bank-collateralised terms.

5. Schedule reefer slot

Book 4–8 weeks ahead of peak season (Ramadan, CNY, Imlek, festive gifting). 1 × 40HQ reefer holds ~24–28 t depending on 9/14/15/20 kg cartons. Set point +4°C to +6°C.

6. Receive documentation pack

Phytosanitary cert, certificate of origin (Form RCEP / Form E / China–Chile FTA / China–Peru FTA), fumigation cert, commercial invoice, packing list, B/L and reefer temperature log.

Importer FAQ

How do I import oranges from China as a first-time B2B buyer?

Confirm your destination port, target volume (start at 1 × 40HQ reefer, ~24–28 t), variety and packing (9/14/15/20 kg cartons). Send those to our export desk and you'll receive an FOB quote, sample plan and full documentation list within one business day. For first orders, L/C at sight is the safest payment structure.

What is the HS code for Chinese oranges and what duty applies?

HS code 0805.10 covers fresh oranges. Duty is 0% under RCEP (Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Australia, NZ) and under the China–Chile and China–Peru FTAs, with a valid certificate of origin. Bangladesh, GCC, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina apply standard MFN duty — we help structure landed cost.

What is the minimum order quantity to import oranges from China?

1 × 40HQ reefer container per variety (approx. 24–28 tonnes). Mixed-SKU containers (e.g. Newhall + honey pomelo + Fuji apple) are available for buyers who want to consolidate. LCL trial samples can be arranged for first-time buyers.

Which ports do you load from and how long is transit?

Loading at Shanghai or Ningbo. Indicative reefer transit: Port Klang 14–18d, Tanjung Priok 16–20d, Chattogram 18–24d, Manila 12–16d, Laem Chabang 10–14d, Jebel Ali 20–25d, Santos 35–42d, Callao 32–38d.

What documents do I need to import oranges from China into my country?

Export-side: phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin (RCEP / Form E / China–Chile FTA / China–Peru FTA / generic CO), fumigation certificate, commercial invoice, packing list, B/L, reefer temperature log. Import-side documents (import permit, RIPH, BPI, SENASA, SAG, MAPA, etc.) are issued in your country and depend on your destination — we'll point you to the right authority.

Can you ship to my country if it's not on your list?

Yes. We currently focus on Southeast Asia, South Asia, GCC and South America but we ship globally. Send your discharge port and target volume — if it's reefer-accessible, we can quote.
