Food Safety & Cold-Chain Traceability

Procurement risk in fresh fruit is owned at sourcing, not at port. Our six-stage food-safety system pushes compliance back to the orchard — so every China citrus carton you receive is traceable to a plot-ID, a harvest date and a measured residue profile.

1 · Raw material control

  • Cooperative orchards registered with GACC by plot-ID and GPS
  • Approved input list for fertiliser and crop-protection products
  • Pre-harvest residue screening on every lot before pick
  • Harvest window matched to optimal Brix / acid ratio per variety

2 · Internal & 3rd-party testing

  • MRL screen against EU, Japan and Malaysia / Indonesia limits
  • Heavy metals (Pb, Cd, As) on rotating composite samples
  • Microbiological screen — total plate count, E. coli, Salmonella
  • Shelf-life trials at simulated reefer temperatures

3 · HACCP packing-house process control

  • Receiving inspection — reject lots failing visual or Brix spec
  • Wash → soft-brush → fungicide-free wax → grade by size & colour
  • CCPs monitored: chlorine ppm, wax temperature, grader calibration
  • Carton-level lot code linking back to orchard plot-ID

4 · Pre-cooling & cold-chain loading

  • Forced-air pre-cool to pulp temp +5°C within 24 h of pack
  • Reefer container set point +4°C to +6°C, 90% RH
  • Pre-trip inspection (PTI) and reefer-genset check pre-loading
  • Container loaded with airflow-friendly pallet pattern

5 · In-transit monitoring

  • Temperature loggers placed at door, mid, nose of container
  • Vessel reefer plug-in confirmed within carrier SLA
  • Live ETA + reefer status shared with importer
  • Full temp log issued on arrival (claim evidence)

6 · Documentation & traceability

  • Lot code on every carton → orchard plot, harvest date, packer
  • Phytosanitary, Form RCEP / Form E, fumigation cert per shipment
  • Recent residue & quality test report attached to commercial invoice
  • Recall protocol: traceback within 4 hours from carton lot code
